Oregon will travel to Penn State on Sept. 27 next season in a rematch of this year’s conference title game, and Ohio State will head to Washington on the same weekend, the Big Ten announced Wednesday in its 2025 schedule release.
The league’s second schedule with 18 members, with each playing nine conference games, will also feature Northwestern playing back-to-back home games at Wrigley Field against Michigan (Nov. 15) and Minnesota (Nov. 22). Oregon will play on Northwestern’s temporary stadium on campus Sept. 13.
The Ducks defeated Penn State 45-37 last weekend to win the Big Ten in their first year in the league. Oregon earned the No. 1 overall seed in the inaugural 12-team playoff. Despite losing, the sixth-seeded Nittany Lions will host 11 seed SMU in the first round of the playoff on Dec. 21 at Beaver Stadium.
Both Ohio State and Indiana advanced to the playoff, as well. The 8-seed Buckeyes face ninth-seeded Tennessee at home on Dec. 21, and 10-seeded Indiana travels to 9 seed Notre Dame on Dec. 20.
Oregon won’t play Ohio State or Michigan during the regular season after playing them both this year. The Buckeyes won’t face USC, either. The Wolverines and Nittany Lions will miss each other for the second straight year.
The 2025 schedule does not include a conference game during the first two weeks of the season. Ohio State opens at home against Texas, while Michigan travels to Oklahoma in Week 2 in a clash of Big Ten-SEC powers.
The Wolverines go to instate rival Michigan State in Week 9, and the Buckeyes will welcome Penn State to the Horseshoe in Week 10.
Ohio State and Penn State will share the same byes (Weeks 4 and Week 9 before they meet). Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Purdue and Wisconsin will all have their first bye Week 5.
The Boilermakers will have the longest stretch between byes, playing seven straight games before getting an off weekend along with the Hoosiers in Week 13. The two instate rivals will meet on the final weekend.
The rest of Big Ten rivalry weekend in Week 14 will again include Ohio State at Michigan, Oregon at Washington, Iowa at Nebraska and Wisconsin at Minnesota. UCLA will play at USC on the final weekend of the season this time, too. The Huskers and Hawkeyes will play on Friday (Nov. 28). The Big Ten noted it could still move games to Fridays on either Labor Day or Black Friday.
